Glass House was recorded sometime in 1984. My first multi-track recording. Much fun. My brother did the recording and let me program his miraculously modern drum machine. I played and sang everything else. I used an old Rickenbacker 4001 bass and a cheap Takamine acoustic guitar. No clue on the mics, tape deck, or the rest of the gear. That said, I'm pretty sure the drum machine was silver.
I don't remember why I wrote Glass House. I had just dropped out of school, so maybe I was feeling a little reclusive..? Anyway, I was proud of the song. Even today, I still like the story.

Finally went and made my move At last I have my solitude This is the end of my frustration A new-found sense of isolation I'm completely self-contained In my giant two-way picture frame Don't have door; I need no locks Inside of my transparent box Sitting inside my glass house Enjoying lovely view out All the world can see inside I have got nothing to hide My glass house has got no doors Only walls, ceiling and floors Here I sit and here I wait For my final lucky break From my walls I look with pride At all the world there outside And though my walls are very thin I can't go out; they can't come in From inside I sip my beer And wave goodbye to my social sphere And so I sit from day to day Admiring my gilded cage Sitting inside my glass house Enjoying lovely view out All the world can see inside I have got nothing to hide My glass house has got no doors Only walls, ceiling and floors Here I sit and here I wait For my final lucky break I just can't take anymore I think I need open door... I found in my mailbox Someone sent a dozen rocks I knew what to use them for And I made an open door Sold my house to some poor fool Took the cash and went to school Had good time. Got a degree Majored in geology Anyone who wants to own A house like my former home It gets old, I make no bones Eventually you will throw stones
